Willow Creek reopens this weekend!

After a hiatus, this weekend Willow Creek will again welcome visitors to our beautiful vineyard. Our new venue, Rare Hare Wine & Food Store opens at 11am on March 11th and offers a wine bar, restaurant, barrel room wine tasting and general go-to destination for good times. With freshness and changes we have welcomed on board some lovely new staff, yet the core of the vineyard retains continuity. Robbie O'Leary remains managing the vineyard, with Ant Davenport and familiar face Ian McDonald heads up the cellar door. Meanwhile wine maker Geraldine McFaul is busy creating the 2017 Willow Creek wines, as vintage is [...]

Introducing Jackalope, Our New Hotel

The development of boutique accommodation on the Willow Creek vineyard is due for completion early-2017. We are pleased to announce that the 46-room luxury hotel, featuring a stunning 30-metre infinity pool overlooking the vines, and an 80-seat fine dining restaurant, will launch under the name Jackalope. At the same time we will reopen the former Willow Creek cellar door and restaurant, which is also undergoing extensive refurbishment. The new cellar door will be home to both our Willow Creek wines and an exciting new wine and produce label, to be announced soon. For more information on the hotel as it is released, please [...]

95 Points for the 2015 Sauvignon Blanc

Our 2015 Willow Creek Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc is a vibrant and delicate wine, filled with fresh passionfruit flavours and wonderful length. James Halliday wrote a glowing review about it. "Whole bunch-pressed directly to used oak for fermentation, lees contact and stirring, bottled August. A thoroughly impressive and powerful sauvignon in the style of the late Didier Dageneau (Loire Valley, France). Its flavour spectrum is on the savoury side, oak imparting texture and not subverting the complex and intense mix of herb and blackcurrent (yes!) flavours."

The 2016 Vintage is Complete...

The summer of 2015/16 was warm and dry, creating very favourable conditions for a bounteous crop of grapes (albeit still low to ensure flavoursome fruit). The harvest began at the end of February - the earliest ever - and it was a ridiculously busy 6 weeks. The pickers maintained a steady flow of grapes into the winery, as some varieties ripened at the same time, so the team worked from dawn to dusk transporting the fresh and full bunches to the winery. Geraldine remained calm and carried on, and we were awestruck, as usual, at her endless supply of energy and [...]

Our pop-up cellar door, Willow Creek at Flinders

Our creative ideas have come to fruition in the form of a cool new cellar door in the charming seaside village of Flinders, on the Mornington Peninsula. Our beautiful vineyard panorama, shot by photographer Craig Moodie, wraps around the space, creating a very stylish tasting room. Wander up Cook Street to visit the interesting galleries, boutiques and cafes, taste wine, and then dine in the ambient Cook and Norman Trattoria. You'll be absorbing Mornington Peninsula's best attributes without ever having to hop into your car. We're open from 11am to 5pm, Friday to Sunday. We look forward to seeing you there.
